Clerk-Recorder
The county recorder maintains and provides public access to a permanent archive of recorded documents. The recorder is responsible for examination and recording of all documents presented to this office that deal with establishing ownership of land in the county or as required by law.

Property Tax Bill
Make payments to Sierra County over the Internet by credit card or debit card. Payments are accepted from Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. Point and Pay, Inc. is a third-party e-payment service which provides secure online processing for a convenience fee charged to the payer.

Sheriff's Civil Fee
Due to the specialized training and therefore the specific assigning of the required personnel to perform the duties, the following functions of the Sheriff's Office are generally done by advance appointment in the Downieville Office. On rare occasions, it may be possible to call ahead to inquire if immediately available.

Cases closed by this office and have either been adjudicated by the court, or for which the District Attorney has provided this office with a ‘no filing’ decision are public record and can be sold to any individual upon the payment of the current fee, and a request for the same made in writing. $40.00 per report, plus an additional $.25 for each page after 20

Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT)
Transient occupancy tax (TOT), also known as "bed tax", is a voter approved tax collected from lodgers when they rent a motel room, campsite or RV space in the county for 30 days or less. The tax is 12.5% of the total bill for lodging and assists in paying for general county services such as law enforcement, ambulances, parks and promotion of tourism.
