The Office of Emergency Services serves the communities of Sierra County in times of major disasters. Our goal is to protect the lives and property by assisting first responders to help manage resources. This office works with, and is under the auspices of the California Office of Emergency Services(CalOES).
Due to it's unique abilities to respond to infectious, occupational, or environmental incidents, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) plays a pivotal role in ensuring that state and local public health systems are prepared for these and other public health incidents.
The Health Department’s role in emergency is focused on disease prevention and reporting, medical needs beyond first response, medical surge at local clinics, assist with medical needs of displaced people, response to disease outbreak related to food borne illness, chemical contamination, and viruses.
