The Director of Public Works volunteers as the Solid Waste Fee Administrator under direction of the Board of Supervisors. The fee administrator is the public official designated with the authority to administer the Solid Waste Benefit Assessment Fee System, to process Licensed Hauler Applications and the Registered Haulers list, as well other solid waste fees and administrative duties as provided by Chapter 8.04 of the Sierra County Code.
The solid waste parcel charge is a fee set by the Board of Supervisors no later than July 1 of each year. The current loose cubic yard (LCY) rate is $ 20.38 per loose cubic yard.
Residential parcels are charged a fee based upon 18 loose cubic yards per residential unit, equaling a fee of $ 366.84 per year per residential unit.
Non-residential solid waste parcel fees, businesses, or parcels improved with more than four residential units, are calculated utilizing the hauler route slips for actual pickup between April 1 and March 31 of each year and calculated by $ 20.38 per loose cubic yard.
If you disagree with the solid waste parcel charge, you may file an Application for Adjustment to Solid Waste Fee Assessment with the Solid Waste Fee Administrator no later than 5:00 p.m., December 1. Postmarks are not accepted.
